LOCAL MILITARY WOMEN: WE WANT TO HONOR YOU! Ladies, are you a veteran? Active duty or reservist? The Tri-County Women’s Connection luncheon on November 6 is all about thanking and honoring YOU! Please join us for a complimentary lunch as we celebrate your service. Our luncheon venue is the North Georgia Technical College, Building A, 121 Meeks Avenue, Blairsville. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. with the program starting at 12:00 p.m. and ending at 1:30 p.m. Our Guest Speaker is Tammy Ortung, a 25-year military veteran, from Woodruff, SC, who will tell her story, “Diary of a Wimpy Soldier”. Tammy has self-published numerous books, and an excerpt from an essay about her Iraq Deployment was selected for publication in “The Walls Between Us” in November 2018. She continues to pursue her passion for writing, by using her GI Bill to earn a degree in Creative Writing from Converse College in Spartanburg, SC. After a cumulative 20 years in Washington State, Tammy convinced her husband, Tim, to move cross-country to Woodruff, SC in 2016 to be closer to family. She is now actively involved in the lives of her five grandchildren, ages 9 months to 10 years old. Tammy also loves to read, sew, paint, and do crafts in her spare time. All non-military ladies are welcome and we encourage you to come to thank those who have served our country. Your luncheon and program cost is $15-cash or check.
