The degree of excitement increases with the seriousness of the purpose for which a person is chosen. Neighborhood kickball may be a big deal at the moment, but it hardly compares to being chosen to deliver the keynote address at your college commencement. The significance of being chosen also increases with the importance of the decision of the person making the selection. When that person is the holy Creator, God of the universe, the significance of being chosen is unfathomable. The Gospel of Jesus changes our identity and gives us purpose. It changes our community and it gives us a very different outlook (from Overcomer Bible study).
